P recovery obligation from 2029

The European Union has declared phosphorus a limited resource. In Germany, there is an obligation for communal WWTPs to recover phosphorus from 2029. As early as 2023, sewage treatment plant operators must prepare a report on the planned and initiated measures for phosphorus recovery and present it to the authorities.

Whether phosphorus recovery from the liquid sludge or from the ash, or sewage sludge disposal with P recovery via a service provider - there are numerous options for complying with the sewage sludge regulations currently in force.
